ABOUT Mrs. Krutzler

I have been a teacher with Orange County schools for 16 years.  During that time, I have taught 1-5 grades, 4/5 Sheltered English, 5th Grade Bilingual, 5th Grade Science, and K-5 Science Lab.

 

I hold a Bachelor's in Elementary Ed. from the University of Florida.  GO GATORS! And a master's degree in Elementary Ed (with an emphasis on math and science) from the University of Central Florida.

 

I am married to Mike Krutzler and have two wonderful girls who attend Sunset Park Elementary.  My oldest is entering 5th grade and my youngest is now in 2nd Grade.

 

Other than teaching, I love to run and have run several marathons, half marathons, 10k's and of course 5k's.

 

I am also the Girls on the Run coach and Sunset Park's Relay for Life coach.

As a teacher, it is my responsibility to ensure that all my students understand that the world is an amazing place; that students should be active learners; that learning takes place through inquiry and exploration; that cooperation and collaboration are lifelong skills; and that  students need to have the technological skills necessary to compete in today's world.

SCHOLARSHIP

Students will have the opportunity to be selected for various awards throughout the year.  Including student of the month, RARE, AR Goal Getter, Desk of the Month, CLASS LEADER of the Month, and  SHINING STAR of the month. 

 

I will be looking for students who demonstrate leadership skills, have strong collaboration skills, always gives a 100% effort, (both academically and socially) and demonstrates strong organizational skills.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM ME?

I will do my best to make your child's 1st grade year exciting and fun; and ensure that I provide a rigorous curriculum (common core standards) that will help your child to reach their full potential. 

 

I will provide you and your child with feedback on their progress on a regular basis; provide regular updates regarding curriculum and post them on this site; and provide detailed explanations of all projects and assignments.

 

I will do my best to respond to your phone calls/emails in a timely manner and to provide at least one day a week to meet with parents regarding concerns, questions, etc.

WHAT WILL I EXPECT FROM YOUR CHILD?

I expect for your child to come to school prepared to learn.  This means that he/she should have a healthy breakfast and plenty of sleep so that they can focus on the tasks ahead.  In addition, it's important for your child to complete all assignments on time so that when we go over them in class so he/she  can contribute meaningfully to the discussion.

 

I expect for your child to have all of her/his supplies.  If you are having difficulty obtaining any of the supplies requested, please let me know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.

 

Finally, I expect your child to make good choices throughout the day; be willing to cooperate with others; participate in class discussions; and always do their best.

Parents, I need your support!  Please be sure to go over the homework with your child, review any notes/materials sent home; check in to this site daily for updates and assignments.  I can't do this alone.  Your child and I need your help!

 

In addition, if you are available to help out as a room mom/dad; would like to join us on fieldtrips; or can help prepare materials from home, please let me know.
